🔋 Why Battery Differs on Custom ROMs

Custom ROMs handle power management differently from stock firmware. Some ROMs run very lean out of the box — others need tuning. These 10 tips work across all AOSP ROMs and will add 1–2 hours of screen-on time to virtually any setup.

⚡ Top 10 Battery Tips

1
Set refresh rate adaptively. Lock your display to 60Hz for reading/browsing, 120Hz only when gaming. Settings → Display → Refresh Rate → Auto / Adaptive.
2
Enable Battery Saver Mode schedule. Set it to activate automatically at 20% battery. Most ROMs support scheduled battery saver.
3
Restrict background apps aggressively. Settings → Apps → [App Name] → Battery → Restricted. Do this for social media apps especially.
4
Disable always-syncing accounts. Settings → Accounts → disable Auto-sync for apps you don't need real-time updates from.
5
Use Battery Stable thermal profile. If your ROM has thermal profiles (Axion OS, Evolution X), use Balanced or Battery — not Performance — for daily use.
6
Set screen timeout to 30 seconds. Settings → Display → Screen timeout. Most people waste 10–15 minutes of SOT on accidental screen-on time daily.
7
Disable location always-on. Settings → Location → App permissions → change all apps to "While using" or "Ask every time." Never "Always."
8
Enable Dark Mode system-wide. On AMOLED displays, true black pixels are literally off. Dark Mode can save 15–20% battery on AMOLED screens like Poco X6 Pro's panel.
9
Set charge limit to 80–90%. Many ROMs (Axion OS, crDroid) have built-in charge limiting. Keeping battery below 90% significantly extends long-term battery health.
10
Use crDroid or Rising OS for best baseline. If battery is your #1 priority, these two ROMs have the best stock power management of any builds we've tested on Duchamp.
